I am passionate about the work I do because I’ve been there. After years of feeling overwhelmed with the management of day to day tasks I received a late diagnosis of AD(H)D . It was at that moment that my life experiences finally made sense. I resonated with the students and professionals I worked with who were experiencing difficulties in breaking down tasks, overwhelm, disorganization and emotional dysregulation. We have a lot in common.
I truly understand how AD(H)D can impact someone’s life, as well as the unique gifts that can flourish when greater awareness and acceptance is nurtured. This has given me a unique perspective on the impact work and school related stress, relationship difficulties and chronic illness can have on the quality of one’s life whether you have been diagnosed with AD(H)D or not.
With over two decades of experience working in education and community development I have learned how important it is to implement an evidence based, collaborative approach in my work. I recognize how important it is to focus on what you know. This is why I specialize in working with adults, adolescents and couples struggling with AD(H)D, ASD, depression, anxiety, attachment issues, PTSD/ CPTSD and chronic illness.
The following therapeutic modalities inform my practice: Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Brain Spotting, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Mindfulness. I take a strengths based approach.with a focus on psychoeducation. It is through understanding that my clients are able to reframe personal experiences as they develop the skill of mindful self compassion.
I am a big believer in the benefits of therapy and coaching, not just the insights you will discover in session but from integrating what you have learned into everyday life. As we work together you will build a personal toolbox of strategies that will help you stay on track and move forward in life as you meet ongoing challenges.
